MASON BEE NESTING REEDS
Mason Bees prefer these natural reeds over any other nesting materials to nest in from our experience using all of the different types (wood blocks, paper tubes, etc). Parasites can not drill through the sides of the reeds, unlike paper nesting tubes, and are less likely to have mold problems. The natural reeds are in excellent condition and are cut with a nice smooth cut on both sides of the reed. There are different diameter holes for the different sized bees to pick a nesting reed of their own. The reeds are cut to a length of 4 to 6 inches and fit the houses we build. These reeds are easy to open, just partially insert a knife at one end of the reed, twist the knife and the reed will easily open. The cocoons can then be easily inspected, cleaned off, refrigerated and stored for the next season.
